Kilbakanto made the perfect start to his career with a winning debut at Boulta last Saturday. Patiently ridden, it was eye-catching just how swiftly he cut through the field after the third-last fence, at a point in the race when the front pair had kicked for home. Despite that pair getting first run on him, he showed a great attitude to run them down, coming through with his challenge at the last, and in the end, he won with plenty in hand, pulling clear at the line to prevail by four and a half lengths. The time of the race also compares very favourably to the four-year-old maiden races on the card despite carrying 5lbs more than those year-younger rivals earlier on the card.
