Description
Empire Burleque is a horse who really took the eye, as this big striding son of Cape Cross, looked set for success at every point up the run-in, only to be joined on the line in a very tight finish which resulted in a dead-heat. Making good progress early on the final circuit, the bay gelding, who is out of a Galileo mare, showed a notable turn of foot early in the home straight, and it is likely that a mistake at the last, which saw him peck badly on landing, was costly given the final winning margin. The front pair pulled well clear of the remainder in the fastest time of the day, and this looks an exciting recruit who has all the pace and pedigree to drop back in trip on the track.
