Isle Of Oir made his debut at Punchestown earlier this month when he really put it up to the odds-on favourite despite a significant gulf in experience between them and having also not enjoyed the smoothest of passages off the home bend. Once entering the straight his initial path was blocked which forced him to switch inside of rivals from where he showed a good turn of foot to match the eventual winner up much of the long home straight. It is noteworthy that the only horse who was able to beat him in the 15-runner race brought significant form into it which made him a very worthy odds-on favourite having chased home a subsequent 11-length maiden hurdle winner on his pointing debut in the autumn and then finished third behind two subsequent maiden hurdle winners on his latest outing in the pointing field. That all points to this being a very eye-catching debut from this half-brother of a point-to-point and recent maiden hurdle winner in the 130-rated Dunboyne.
