Throatlash was one of just two newcomers in the Curraghmore maiden that he made his debut in last month and it was notable just how strung out he managed to get the field in the closing stages despite his inexperience. Coming from off the pace, he answered every question that was asked of him as the short-priced favourite was a persistent challenge to him in between the final two fences, as the pair left their rivals toiling behind. He came out on top of that protracted battle at the last, and picked up again on the run-in to win going away. Notably, the pair pulled well clear of previous placed rivals, with 18 lengths back to a former runner-up in third, and in turn 13 lengths to a horse that had finished third at Aghabullogue on debut. That give a level of depth to the performance.
