Sheer Raz had to contend with challenging conditions for his debut at Peppard’s Castle. Not only was the ground heavy, but there were very strong winds on the day, which did not make for an easy introduction around this testing new course. But it proved to be a challenge that he coped with particularly well, as from his always-prominent position he attempted to kick-on at the second-last, and coming away from the final fence, he had the advantage, only to be run out of it in the dying strides by a horse who had the benefit of a previous run which was likely crucial.
