Un Sens A La Vie went into his second start at Loughrea as the horse to beat after he had made a very promising debut in a particularly competitive Loughanmore maiden in the spring. He had finished third behind the €105,000 store Theflyingking on that occasion, a horse that has since been bought to join Gordon Elliott, and he became the third subsequent maiden winner to emerge out of that race when winning at Loughrea. This race was run to a steady gallop, and the pace of the race did not pick up until very late in the day, which put a particular premium on speed. It is therefore to his credit, that he picked up as strongly as he did to get up in a tight finish to defeat two horses that had cost a combined €115,000 at the store sales.
