Having been the subject of market confidence ahead of her debut at Dromahane in April when sent off as a joint-favourite, Shanagolden Girl showed the benefit of that initial effort when she returned at Lisronagh earlier this month. Racing from the front in a complete change in tactics to the patient approach that had been taken on debut, she tried to stretch the field out inside the final half-mile and still led the field into the home straight. It was only in between the final two fences that she was headed by the favourite, the Brian Acheson-owned and Colin Bowe-trained €55,000 Derby sale purchase Adamas. This showed great progression from her first to second starts, and so this Affinisea-sired mare, who is out of a half-sister to the Grade 1-winning Apache Stronghold, should not remain a maiden for much longer on this evidence.
