By last season’s champion point-to-point stallion Mahler, Wepushourlucksofar showed the benefit of his summer break by returning a much-improved performer to win at Dromahane last Sunday. Always prominent, in a change of tactics to his two efforts last season, he travelled best of all to the third-last fence, yet given how well he progressed through the race, he also illustrated how tough an individual he is, as having been briefly headed at the last when his chief rival tightened him up, he gamely fought back to force a share of the spoils, as they pulled some 12 lengths clear of the odds-on favourite. With the horse he dead-heated with having been the form horse of the race, it gives a clear indication of just how much he has stepped forward
