Franigane ran a cracker when second in his four-year-old maiden at Knockmullen House. The son of Coastal Path, who was appearing for the third time , stepped up notably from his two previous performances. The chestnut gelding was waited with in the rear before making progress on the final mile where the Donnchadh Doyle-trained gelding produced a strong challenge to the leader at the penultimate fence where it remained nip and tuck on the run-in where he finished just two lengths behind in the runner-up spot. Out of a half-sister to a four-time winner, he appears to be a decent looking prospect, this well-bred gelding lost little in defeat and is a very likeable youngster with a lot to offer it seems.
