Fuego De L’Abbaye got off the mark at the second time of asking in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dowth Hall, having been unlucky to come to grief at the second fence on his debut at Bartlemy. Ridden by Luke Murphy the son of Kap Rock bounced out and made all the running, jumping fluently throughout. The French-bred gelding, who increased the tempo in the final six furlongs displayed a very willing attitude and as the closing All The Fame loomed, it is to his credit that he found plenty for pressure before going on to oblige by two lengths. The €22,000 sale graduate appears to be a decent looking prospect, who could be a progressive sort under rules.
