Queens Brook became the latest four-year-old winner for Shirocco when she made a winning return to action at Dromahane last Sunday. Third on her debut last March, she became the second subsequent maiden winner to emerge from that 13-runner Monksgrange contest when prevailing by two lengths at the Co. Cork venue. Always close to the steady pace, she joined the recent Knockinroe placed Dame De Ruban early in the home straight, and despite that rival having the advantage of recent race fitness over her, she was able to dismiss her challenge by the second-last. She still had plenty left in the tank to fend off the late efforts of the staying on Hand In My Pocket as she ran right through the winning line. A half-sister of the Warwick Classic Chase victor Shotgun Paddy, she too looks a strong stayer, with her stable having offered recent Grade 3 winner Daylight Katie at this sale in 2017, having also won a four-year-old mares’ maiden on the corresponding weekend.
