Ballyadam could not have been more impressive on his debut, as he ran out a four-length winner of the four-year-old maiden won three years earlier by Grade 1 star Finians Oscar. This was a race run to a strong gallop from flag fall, however this did little to trouble the Fame And Glory gelding who made notable ground on the climb to the home straight before picking off the long time leader in between the final two fences to a clock a time 17 seconds faster than the opening division of the same event. This emphatic defeat saw him get the better of a number of horses with notable form, including the third, Premiumaccess, who had chased home £410,000 seller Wide Receiver on his only previous outing, the fourth who had also finished placed on his only previous run, whilst Monty Guiry who had only been beaten by a length in the spring, could only manage fifth.
