Hailing from a yard that produced the Down Royal Grade 3 winner Daylight Katie, who was previously sold at this sale after winning a four-year-old mares’ maiden, Ballycallan Fame tried to make all of the running on her debut in very testing conditions at Moig South. The daughter Fame And Glory, that is out of a two-time track winner that has already produced the multiple winner Scotch Quay, posted what was an impressive round of jumping for a rookie, as she led the field into the home straight, with seemingly most of her rivals rivals accounted for. It was only the more experienced Feralkat that could offer a challenge to her, and a better leap by that rival at the last proved crucially in getting the victory. Ballycallan Fame was only beaten by just over a length at the line, and pulled ten lengths clear of the remainder, indicating she should be winning very soon.
