Highate Hill is a horse that made an immediate impact on his point-to-point debut in an ultra-competitive four-year-old contest at Monksgrange in the spring, running a race full of promise by sitting in third when coming down at the final fence. A change in tactics on his second start of the autumn at Damma House where he was ridden positively from the front marked a return to that early promise, as the €45,000 Derby Sale recruit made all and despite being hampered by a loose horse on a number of occasions, he produced a smart turn of foot to get the field on the stretch from the third-last, before seeing out the trip well, up the good pull to the winning post.
