A €35,000 purchase out of last year’s Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, Garcon Dargent is a Doyen gelding that comes from a high achieving family that includes the likes of Accordion Etoile and French Accordion. An eye-catching individual, he certainly stood out in the preliminaries with a physique that radiates future chaser. Making his debut at Dromahane earlier this month, he made good progress to come from mid-division to finish second to the race-fit winner who had previously finished second at Fairyhouse just a number of weeks earlier. It was also notable that he was the first of the seven newcomers to finish with a gap of seven lengths back to his nearest pursuer all of which points to a very promising start to his career.
