Handled by Richard Black, Tucane put in an impressive debut performance to take the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Dromahane under the guidance of Luke Murphy at the end of April. The daughter of Yeats raced up with the pace and having being badly hampered on the run to the last when coming to throw down a strong challenge, crossed the line a neck behind Noreen Bawn who subsequently sold for €220,000, however the placings were subsequently reversed in a stewards enquiry following interference from the last. This particular Maiden has an illustrious roll of honour which includes last year's winner Honeysuckle. Tucanae is a half-sister to former Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Dodging Bullets and is a strong filly who looks set to develop into a smart track performer in the future.
