Falco Blitz ran a cracker when second on his debut in a four-year-old maiden at Portrush. The son of Falco was ridden in mid-division before making good progress from the third last fence where the Donnchadh Doyle-trained gelding produced a strong challenge to the leader at the penultimate fence where it remained nip and tuck on the run-in where he finished just a length and a half behind in the runner-up spot with a further 12 lengths back to the third placed finisher. Falco Blitz is from the family of the Group one winning sire Saffron Walden and having posted such a strong run, this well-bred gelding lost little in defeat and is a very likeable youngster with a lot to offer it seems.
