Jukebox King made a winning debut at Ballycrystal last Sunday to enjoy the perfect start to his racing career. This can be a competitive January maiden, evident in the 2023 winner placing in the recent Grade 1 novice hurdle at Naas, whilst last year’s winner was placed in a bumper at the Punchestown festival. Settled in mid-division, this €34,000 son of Jukebox Jury was comfortably able to take closer order along the back straight, and whilst slightly hampered on the bend out of the back which put him on the back foot at a crucial point, he soon set off in pursuit of the eventual runner-up who had first run on him. Having reeled him in by the final fence, Jukebox King struck the front on the run-in and immediately put distance between himself and a proven rival to win going away by four lengths.
