The well-related Lady Corrib is out of a Teofilo half-sister to the eight-time Grade 1 winning Nichols Canyon, and she more than hinted at the ability that she had to back-up that pedigree on her debut at Ballingarry last May. Always racing close to the pace, she was travelling with purpose in a close second when coming down at the third-last fence. That came on good ground, but she proved her versatility when re-appearing earlier this month at Aghabullogue in testing conditions. More patiently ridden in contrast with her debut, she began to head into contention with a mile to race as it began to develop. She did not enjoy the smoothest of passages into the home straight when making her challenge up the inside of rivals, but swiftly overcome having her momentum checked to jump the last with a share of the lead. She gamely stuck to her task before just missing out on a maiden victory by a head to a previously placed and vastly more experienced rival as the front trio pulled some 32 lengths clear of their rivals. It would look to be only a matter of time before she goes one place better.
