Kerryhill was a serious eye-catcher when making his debut at Kirkistown in November, the same maiden that his owner Wilson Dennison had won 12 months earlier with the recent impressive Grade 1 Challow Hurdle victor Hermes Allen. Bought for no less than €65,000 as a foal, the Soldier Of Fortune gelding overcame early jumping errors and getting hampered at a crucial stage along the back straight to chase the front pair out of the back. That did mean the all-the-way leader and eventual winner did get first run on him from this point. It was an insurmountable task to try and overhaul the leader from this point, given the distance he was behind him leaving the back but it is a mark of his ability that he was able to close to within a length and a quarter of him at the line with the pair pulling some 11 lengths clear of the field in a particularly quick time, one that was 25 seconds quicker than the average on the card. He could well have a very big future ahead of him.
