Georgie Burgess is a horse that made a costly mistake five-out on his debut in a big-field Ballindenisk maiden last month as he went on to be pulled-up, but he showed the clear benefit for it when taking on testing conditions at Aghabullogue in early January. Whilst he did make a serious blunder at the ninth fence, he was able to pick off rivals under patient tactics going out on the final circuit. He made good ground to challenge the all-the-way leader on the run to the home straight and whilst having to settle for the runners-up spot, he kept on strongly to the line in what was an encouraging step forward.
