El Elefante is an Ol’ Man River mare that posted an eye-catching debut at Tinahely earlier in the month. Patiently ridden in what was a very slowly-run race on account of the conditions, this ensured that the race developed into something of a sprint finish up the hill in the home straight. Despite filling the back position turning in at the bottom of the hill, she made swift progress on the outside of rivals to jump the second-last fence with a share of the lead. Whilst having to settle for second behind a well-fancied and more experienced rival, she pulled nicely clear of her rivals to suggest that she should have little trouble going one place better in the near future.
