Micks Jet was effectively making her debut when just touched off by the narrowest margin possible at Ballindenisk at the beginning of the month having only got as far as fence two at Boulta in late November. Patiently ridden in the New Year’s day contest at the big galloping track, she made her way to the front at the third-last fence in what was a steadily-run contest only to loose the lead when outjumped at the very next fence. There is a strong case to say that she was particularly unlucky not to have won as she had battled back to re-join her chief rival at the last only to be once again out jumped by that more experienced rival. On the back foot once again, she bravely fought back and was closing on the winner to the line, just missing out by a short-head. Two swifter jumps over the final two fences could certainly have produced a different result and that experience should really stand to this Jet Away mare who hails from the same stable that produced last year’s Cheltenham Festival winner Corach Rambler to win his point-to-point.
