Lady Shirocco finished sixth on her career debut at Boulta in a maiden won by Fresh Appeal at the beginning of December. Following up from this run, the daughter of Shirocco improved to win on her next start at Dromahane at the end of December. Prominent throughout, the Turlough O’Connor-trained winner was always in the chasing group as Altumanina tried to make all. She gamely responded to her partner's urgings to pick up the running after the last, then holding on valiantly to beat the staying on Esme Shelby by a short head. This homebred bay mare is out of seven-time winning mare Estarana and displayed a nice blend of both speed and stamina and looks set to further add to this winning family when she makes her progression to park racing.
