Koaly Play made a winning debut in the nine-runner four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Castlelands. Settled towards the rear early on, the son of Getaway made good headway to dispute the lead from three out and was still a couple of lengths adrift when the leader fell at the final fence. Left in front, he kept on strongly on the run-in to record a decisive seven-and-a-half-length success. A well-bred gelding out of the Grade 3-winning hurdler Mae’s Choice, he showed a very likeable attitude on debut and looks a promising prospect for the track.
