The Johnny Berry-trained Western Zara finished second on debut at Ballycahane to Chosen Port. Beaten just two lengths in the hands of Shane O'Rourke, this was a very much an encouraging debut. She showed a tough attitude rallying on the winner from the back of the last fence. She stuck to her task very gamely to bridge the gap on the winner on the run-in. Out of a half-sister to Boberelle, Special Bar and Ipay Isay, this grey mare is sure to improve from this effort and could well develop into a nice staying type in the near future over middle to long distances.
