The Denis Murphy-trained Barden Bella made an encouraging debut to finish second in the mares' four-year-old maiden at Turtulla when chasing home Boher Cailin. The daughter of Mahler settled in a mid-division position under the guidance of Simon Cavanagh. Jumping well throughout, she took closer order from the fourth-last, before finishing an encouraging second. Purchased privately for €15,000 at the May Store Sale by Colin Bowe, she is a half-sister to the well-regarded Sempo who won a bumper and maiden hurdle in impressive fashion on both occasions.
