Mr Hendricks got off the mark at the third time of asking when taking the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Kirkistown for Kate Harington. The son of Milan was only beaten five-lengths in fourth at Kilfeacle in January and the dark bay stepped up on that effort to record an impressive 15-length success here. Having made much of the running under Barry O’Neill, the five-year-old certainly appeared to enjoy the soft ground conditions, jumping and travelling well throughout. A €20,000 purchase at the Derby Sale in 2017, this likable sort stayed on gamely in the closing stages to win going away. Already a half-brother to a host on winners, this looks to be a fine staying chaser in the making.
