Soviet Pimpernel ran a race full of promise on his debut when runner-up in the National Hunt Flat Race at Leopardstown on 3rd March. Always to the fore under Jamie Codd the son of Elusive Pimpernel showed a good turn of foot to go to the front around two furlongs out only giving best to a very well regarded rival. This was a very eye-catching debut and he looks sure to go one better next time out before developing into a classy novice hurdler.
