The Denis Murphy-trained Hold That Taught made a winning debut when taking the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Turtulla. A €70,000 Derby Sale graduate, this son of Kayf Tara was given a positive ride by Simon Cavanagh and caught the eye travelling and jumping well throughout. The four-year-old found plenty for pressure in the home straight and after surviving a slightly untidy jump at the penultimate obstacle, this likable sort gallop on resolutely to the line winning by a comfortable ten lengths. A half-brother to a share of winners, this good-looking sort could well develop into a top class staying chaser in the future.
