Palmers Hill, who had third on debut behind £480,000 subsequent Cheltenham sales purchase Flemenshill at Oldtown, enjoyed the better ground conditions and was in a different class to his rivals when running out a 20-length winner of a four-year-old maiden at Tyrella earlier this month. The son of Gold Well who finished 10-lengths adrift of the £480,000 purchase early last month having held every chance for much of that contest, travelled strongly throughout and having jumped with great fluency, eased his way to the front at the second-last. Such was the authority that he held over his rivals, that the verdict could have been called a considerable way out. The step-up from the 2m4f distance of his initial Oldtown outing to the 3 miles at Tyrella held no fears from him as he ran right to the line, clocking the fastest time that was recorded on the day at Tyrella. Given that the race featured a number of well-bred sorts that he could not have been any more impressive with the manner of his victory, this is a horse who has to be considered very exciting.
