The well-bred Slate House ran out one of the most impressive four-year-old maiden winners of last Autumn when getting off the mark by a wide-margin winner at Tattersalls. Always racing close to the fore, the son of Presenting was sent for home entering the home straight, at which point, he began to assert his authority over his rivals. The ease at which he was able to overcome a mistake at the last and pick-up on the climb to the line, gave an indication of what remained in the tank as he defeated Ringmoylan by 10-lengths. A €44,000 purchase at the Derby sale, there was plenty of nice pedigrees in behind him, with the runner-up costing €42,000 as a three-year-old, whilst the third horse, It’s Your Move, was bought for €52,000 as a store. It is worth noting that Slate House also clocked a quicker time than the opening division of this four-year-old maiden, a race which was one by Cool Getaway, who was subsequently sold for £305,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale. This is a high class prospect.
