Bought for €45,000 at the 2023 Derby Sale, U S Marshall made his debut at Tattersalls in December where he finished his race out very strongly. He had been caught upwards of six lengths adrift of the front trio who slipped the field getting first run on him exiting out of the back straight. This left him with work to do, but to his credit, he kept on strongly and was only beaten by just over two lengths at the line by Starmount, who realised £82,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham December sale afterwards. Appearing at Comea for his next start, he was brought into a challenging position earlier in the contest and always caught the eye going best of all. Striking the front before the home bend, he was always doing enough and held off a more experienced rival to get off the mark at just the second time of asking.
