Since changing stables following her debut at the end of last season, Country Mouse has stepped forward in each of her two outings for current connections, leaving her with a very progressive profile. On her first start for Ian Power at Borris House in December, she ran considerably better than being beaten 18 lengths would suggest, as she was still keeping tabs on the front pair, until a very bad blunder at the penultimate fence cost her all chance. When you consider that the winner of this maiden, Heron In The Park, went on to top the Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale when sold for £280,000, it gives an indication as to the race she was running until her costly race-ending error. However, she swiftly made amends when she turned out for her very next start in Aghabullogue, turning this particular race into a one-horse contest. Joined and briefly headed approaching the home straight, she had the measure of that rival when tack issue saw her exit the race at the last, allowing Country Mouse to return 38 lengths clear of the field.
