A most unlucky sort on debut when a close second. He had moved into a serious challenging position leaving the back straight and was right on the tail of the winner as they moved to the third last on the stiff climb to the home straight. At the worst possible time he pecked at the back of the fence and not only lost all momentum at a key time but almost unseated from this luckless false step. He took his time to recover but after the second last began to find top gear and stayed on powerfully to the line where he was only four lengths adrift. In fact it was not far after the line that he drew up alongside the winner. A winner in waiting with a bright future ahead it seems.
