Minella Escape showed plenty of promise on his debut when finishing fourth at Boulta in December when only beaten ten lengths. Following up from this run, the son of Beat Hollow put in a very pleasing performance when taking the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bellharbour in February, getting off the mark at the second time of asking. The John Nallen-trained gelding was always close to the pace and in truth, he could be called the winner once striking the front shortly after two out. He soon drew clear of the remainder of the field, showing a nice turn of foot when gamely galloping all the way to the line to win by six lengths over his runner-up. Going forward this nicely bred sort, who is out of a half-sister to eight-time winner Keepitsecret, looks like he is set to further add to this winning family when he makes his progression to track racing.
