Pragmatic took the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dungarvan in January on what was his second start between the flags. Pragmatic had one previous run where he exited at the midway point at Templenacarriga in December. Disputing the running throughout, the French-bred son of High Rock held a strong advantage coming to the final fence where he soon drew clear of the remainder of the field and went on to win with eight lengths over his runner-up. This exciting sort is out of a daughter of the Listed hurdle winner Atreide who bred the Grade two winner, Royal Astarania. From a high class family, Pragmatic showed a likeable attitude and looks like a horse that could be a real money spinner for his new connections.
