Description

Gallahers Cross certainly went in many people’s notebooks following his wide-margin and emphatic debut success in a five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Punchestown. Always catching the eye with the ease at which he travelled through the race, this good looking son of Getaway was left in front at the third-last fence when the outsider of the field came down, and from that point he never looked in danger. Although is main market rival and joint-favourite Double You Be, a Yeats gelding on debut, attempted to give chase after the penultimate fence, it was soon clear that this was in vein as Gallahers Cross stretched clear early in the home straight. In command from before the final fence, he returned on the bridle in most impressive fashion. They manner in which he dismissed of the fancied Double You Be with such ease was very taking, whilst the pair finished a distance in front of the remainder. This could well be a horse with a very big future ahead of him.
