Despite failing to finish her opening three efforts, Auntie Mary had shown promise prior to her departure in some of those early races to ensure her success at Killeagh on her seasonal re-appearance was no surprise. Ridden with some restraint for much of the opening half of the race, the Scorpion mare hit the front by the seventh fence and received a very well judged ride to allow the front pair take each other approaching the home straight, before being delivered with her winning challenge at the penultimate fence, and ultimately scoring by two lengths. The runner-up Aunt Eva is a decent benchmark for the race having finished twice previous to her Killeagh effort when a close third at Monksgrange on debut last season before finishing second in a 15-runner contest at Ballingarry in June.
