There was an awful lot to like about the performance which Battys Dilemma posted on debut at Ballyvodock late last month to record a winning introduction to competitive action. In a very strongly run race, the son of Darsi was always positioned close to the pace, before notably being able to pick-up at ease of that strong gallop when being sent to the front at the penultimate obstacle. The runner-up and short-priced favourite, whom he was quite comfortably able to hold by two and-a-half lengths at the death, was a highly thought of newcomer from the Paul Cashman yard, whilst the front pair pulled a very noteworthy 10 lengths clear of the third-placed horse. Clocking what was by the far the quickest time of the day, some 8 seconds faster than any other races on the card, and 12 seconds quicker than the average time of the day, there is plenty of positives to draw from the opening effort of this five-year-old who is closely related to a number of multiple winners over obstacles, and he appears to be a track winner in waiting.
