Rule Me In has to be considered quite unfortunate on debut, as he stumbled quite badly at the last whilst holding the advantage, which cost him valuable momentum. The Mahler gelding was always up with the pace, and he showed a potent turn of foot when one of two horses that swiftly opened up an advantage over their rivals racing away from the third-last fence. He had mastered the challenge of that rival coming to the last, when he stumbled on landing, which allowed a new challenge to come through and snatch victory from him. Despite that, he was still over eight lengths clear of the remainder and it is also worth noting that the race clocked a time that was eight seconds quicker than the average on the card, and compared favourably to the four-year-old maiden races on the card despite carrying 5lbs more than those year-younger rivals.
