Starmount had caught the eye on his debut, as contesting the same maiden at Damma House that his stable had won impressively a year earlier, he fell two-out whilst sitting in a close second to Conman John who went on to win the race by 20 lengths before being sold for £170,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham November sale. Starmount more than made amends on his very next start, winning in impressive fashion at Tattersalls just last Sunday. Racing from the front, and the driving force behind the race clocking the quickest time on the card, a notable 15 seconds quicker than the average on the day, his gallop did not relent around a much bigger, galloping track, compared to sharper Damma House course that he started out at. Whilst the runner-up did try to come on terms approaching the home bend, he had all the answers required to fend off his challenge to win by two lengths, in a race which featured a number of nice types with the third having cost €80,000, whilst the fourth was a €45,000 Derby sale purchase.
