Walk Tall made the perfect start to his career when making a winning debut at Ballindenisk earlier in the month, in a race that the Grade 2 winner Shanagh Bob had won two years earlier. A €52,000 purchase at last year’s Derby Sale, the Walk In The Park gelding is well related, as he is out of a half-sister to the 22-time Grade 1 winner Hurricane Fly, and Noel McParlan was an eye-catching jockey booking for his debut. Always to the fore, he struck the front coming to the second-last fence, and although a vastly more experienced and previously-placed rival tried to launch his challenge coming to the last, Walk Tall again delivered a swift leap at the final fence. That completed an impeccable round of jumping for a newcomer, and it allowed him to pull clear on the run-in as he won going away with McParlan sitting motionless in the saddle, suggesting there is plenty more to come from him.
