Having finished fifth at Ballindenisk on his debut in May when his handler Shane Roche’s first runner, Sage Green took a good step forward to open his account at Knockmullen House on just his second career start. Connections elected to change the tactics significantly from his debut, as he was immediately sent to the front on his seasonal re-appearance, from where he was never headed. It was notable that his rider elected to send him on at a very early point on the final circuit, and from then none of his rivals were able to get into a position to challenge him, as he won comfortably by three and a half lengths, in a time 11 seconds quicker than the average time on the card, as the runners returned at long intervals. That was a taking performance.
