Bought for £125,000 as a three-year-old, Riskaway came close to opening his account at Tattersalls just last Sunday. The No Risk At All gelding had finished a close fourth on his debut at Dromahane in April, and having finished placed at Damma House on his return to action in November, he showed the benefit of that in a big-field maiden last Sunday. Always up front, he set a good tempo with his jumping proving to be a real asset. It was his swift leaping which allowed him to surge ahead of his chief rival at what proved to be the final fence. Leading the field into the home straight, he was likely not favoured by the final fence being omitted due to the low-lying sun given his superior jumping, and it was only in the closing stages that he was headed, but still returned nicely clear of the remainder.
