A late faller in testing conditions on his debut at Moig South in November, Bannixtown Boy stepped up from that initial effort to finish a fine second at Borris House last Sunday. Always positioned in the first half dozen, the son of Oscar was part of a group that broke clear from the fourth last, however he appeared to caught short of room on the inner at the bend out of the back straight, which cost him a length or two and put him on the back foot. To his credit, he battle valiantly all the way to the line, moving into second after the last and holding off the late effort of the recently placed third. With the race winner entering the contest following three consecutive placed efforts, this would have to be considered a very encouraging effort for his first completion.
