Kalkas, a strong, imposing three-year-old son of Kapgarde made a most eye-catching debut when placed 3rd over hurdles beaten only 1 ½ lengths and a head at Fontainebleau on 4th December his only start to-date. He caught the eye travelling powerfully for most of the contest, jumping well and overcame greeness staying on all the way to the line. Out of the top-class race mare Fortunateencounter this was a very promising introduction and he looks sure to improve considerably from this.
