Wild Romance comes from a family that have a good record of achieving success between the flags, as two of her elder siblings, Maliboo and Boss Man Fred, won in the point-to-point fields within the last 13 months. The latter, her half-brother, is unbeaten having won his five-year-old maiden at Ballyragget in March before being sold for £70,000, and he has since won on his first outing for Dan Skelton when winning a novice hurdle at Kempton two weeks before Wild Romance made her competitive debut. That saw her line up in a four-year-old mares’ maiden which featured no fewer than 17 horses, 13 of which finished, in what is the biggest number of finishers in an Irish point-to-point since June 2016. Ridden with restraint, she still found herself in ninth after jumping the third-last before catching the eye with the manner in which she picked off rivals before the next. Having stayed on all the way up the straight, she made her way into second by the line in a very encouraging debut.
