Coming from such a respected yard as Andy Slattery, it was no surprise to see Mister Sweets sent off as a short-priced favourite for his debut which came at Turtulla in mid-November. On that occasion, the son of Scorpion came up against a much more experienced type, with Scene Not Herd, the eventual winner, having had the benefit of three previous outings. Mister Sweets was always to the fore in that race which was run to a strong gallop, and it was only from the second-last fence that the winner began to take command, as Mister Sweets got the better of other nicely bred types, including close relations of Azertyuiop and Accordion Etoile in a race that clocked a time 11 seconds faster than the day’s average.
