Doyen is a sire that has been making waves with his point-to-pointers in recent times, and Corran Cross is the latest of his winners that heads to the sales. The well-bred son of Doyen hails from a winning family being out of a half-sister to the ill-fated Grade 2 winner Real Steel. The Denis Murphy-trained geldings’ debut success was achieved at Tinahely in November when he made good progress exiting out of the back straight to take the lead after jumping the final fence. Showing real guts and toughness, despite making a mistake, he soon began to assert and ultimately ran out a comfortable four-length winner of a ten-runner maiden. A €13,000 store purchase, he is strong staying sort, it is hard to see him not following in his families footsteps and adding to their track winners.
